A Fly

We wanted to make something a little different this year. We read through some of your Mother Goose rhymes for inspiration.

One of the first ones that we came on sounded like a cute idea for a toddler costume. We liked the idea of A Flea and a Fly. There are a lot of bee and ladybug costumes out there , but not firefly.

We used materials that we had around the house. The under dress is a crochet top with a tulle skirt that I made. Then I made a vest to go over that. The wings are wire and nylons that have been hand painted.

We made the beenie from a crochet tube gathered at one end. There are pipe cleaner and ping-pong ball antennae.

I made the tail from a 2 liter bottle and covered it with lycra.

She was a huge hit on Halloween. I put glow sticks in her tail. Not only was she very cute, but the glowing tail made her easy to see.
